Interesting Job Turn

To start off with, I keep forgetting to tell this.  On Friday when I went into work, I met my boss Ron for the first time (he had the previous two days off I worked) and we introduced ourselves.  He then told me to follow him and had me go into his office and sat me down.  He told me "I can help you get a teaching job."  I was suprised he said that and went onto say he's helped others get teaching jobs because he knows people in the school district and works for the PTSA I believe.  He told me to bring my resume in and stuff the next week when I work (which is tomorrow) and he would hand it to some people personally.

I was really suprised by this.  The problem is though I don't want to teach in Rochester.  But I was talking to Mom and she was like might as well give it to him and see what happens.  She said I don't have to say yes if I did get offered a job, and if I don't want to be around here, maybe they can refer me to someone else.  So I agreed with that and I will give him the materials tomorrow.

In other news, I finished "The Pillars of the Earth" yesterday afternoon.  It was a good book but maybe a little too long.  You get to really know the characters well though and they become vivd, stood out and you did get slightly attached to them.  Now I gotta find another book to read.

I also still continue to write songs and working on the ones I've already made.  It is quite fun.

My Minnesota Teaching License
My Minnesota Teaching License2.JPG hosted for free by ImageShack
Finally I got my teaching license in the mail today!  Could this turn the tide in me finding a teaching job somewhere!?  It doesn't expire till June 30th, 2013 and all I need to do, to be able to renew it, is to teach 125 hours of some sort in a classroom.  It feels good having it...if only I could use it.  But do I want to?

What We Hate, We Make

I love music.  I will always love and charish it for the rest of my life.  In response to that, I was listening to my ipod on the way back from the Cities on Saturday, after the Twins game Marcus and I went to, and The Rocket Summer's "What We Hate, We Make" came on.  The song is simply awesome and emotionally charged and it includes one of my favorite parts of a song I have ever heard.  Below are the lyrics, and I think the people that have heard this song knows what I'm talking about...

"And I will start with a verse
Then a bridge, write a chorus
So we can all sing along
With everything we got
Between you and me
This song would be
Written for us, but
I know that's not enough
To say I'm sorry"

First Day of Being an Escort with a College Degree

Today I began my first day of the job I am way over qualified for.  I really wasn't an escort today though, I was mostly a door attendant for the Charlton West entrance.  My job entalied helping people in and out of their cars into/from wheel chairs and to give directions.  It was really low stress and this might be the easiest $11/hour I'll ever make.  The people I work with are really nice and fun.  A lot of shit is just given to each other in fun.

I work with a kid named Caleb who is a year younger than me.  He is also a history teaching major but he is going into his 5th year of school to finish off next spring.  He is the only one so far I've met around my age and it's funny how much we have in common; he's cool shit.  I probably haven't given him a good first outlook on the job market but he says he wants to move away, so that will make him getting a job ten times easier.

It is fun going around downtown during the week work because it is mass chaos with all the doctors and patients in a mad rush all day.  Also seeing a lot of the architecture in the buildings and the art inside has given me a new apprecation for Rochester.  I never thought I'd say it but actually taking time to look at downtown has made me realized there is a lot of beauty there.  Growing up in this town has made me neutral to it until now.  Making me see the art has made me want to teach again because I know a lot of the significance going on with why certain parts were constructed  and it wanted me to explain the meaning and that signficance to people and students so they can appreciate it better.

It is also intimdating being around all these doctors and what not.  On the bus ride downtown, you could tell who were the ones getting paid big bucks to do some extrodinary things for people.  Walking around the hospitals though has also given me the feeling that they believe they are a little pompus.  But it might be more of because they are in a rush I hope.

A plus working there is there are a lot of cute nurses around! Smiley

The Hustle and Bustle of Downtown Rochester

Today my mom gave me a little tour of all the Mayo buildings downtown.  My mom is familiar with the mayo buildings and the subways downtown from when she worked at the Wells Fargo down there.  I have to say though, it's so much different downtown than it is anywhere else around town.  I mean I always kind of knew that, but actually being around the hustle and bustle of everything going on down there was kind of fun.  All the Mayo buildings are so intricate and rather beautiful when you look the details on them.  It's also a HUGE maze and you can easily get lost in all the nooks and crannys of all the buildings.  I have always thought Rochester was pretty lame but I do enjoy the face pace of downtown.  I also saw some escorts and it seems like a decent job.  I'm kind of excited to start even if it's just some stupid part time job.

Also when I got my haircut at the new "Barbershop" near my place today (which by the way is awesome because it's only $10 and you get your hair cut and shampooed, a small back massage, free peanuts, tv next to every chair and more) the girl that was cutting my hair said she knew someone with an education degree and still hasn't found a job after looking for 3 years....  But she also said it was because he was trying to find it in the area...area as in rochester but I'm assuming the Cities too.  Oh well, how about I just win the lottery?
